- A candidate for this position must have a basic or secondary education, as well as complete special maritime training in accordance with international requirements.
- It is mandatory to hold valid maritime certificates as required by the STCW (Standards of Training, Certification and Watchkeeping) Convention. At a minimum, a deck rating certificate is required, as well as basic safety courses, including fire prevention and firefighting training, survival at sea, elementary first aid, and personal safety and social responsibility.
- The candidate must undergo a medical examination and have confirmed fitness for work in maritime conditions. Good physical health, endurance, and no contraindications to heavy physical exertion and shift-based work, often in challenging weather conditions, are required.
- References from previous employers, confirming reliability, punctuality and respectful attitude towards clients.
- Clean criminal record and readiness to undergo background and document checks required for work in a private family.
- Practical skills include the ability to perform mooring operations, rigging work, painting and cleaning ship structures, participation in cargo handling operations, as well as basic maintenance of deck equipment. Experience working on vessels or completing sea training is also valued.
