Working Conditions for a Waiter in a Private Household:

Working conditions depend on the specific family and the type of employment, but most employers offer:

Competitive salary with timely payment.
Official employment (where applicable) or a written contract.
Work schedules such as 5/2, 7/7, 30/30, daily shifts, or part-time positions
Live-in options (separate room and meals provided) as well as live-out positions
Travel reimbursement and additional bonuses by agreement.
What is the salary of a personal waiter?

The salary of a family waiter depends on several important factors. The level of compensation is primarily determined by the scope of responsibilities, working schedule, number of family members, and the standard of service expected from the employee. In live-in positions, where accommodation and meals are provided by the employer, the salary may be slightly lower; however, these conditions are often offset by additional benefits. In live-out positions, compensation is generally higher, as the employee is responsible for covering their own housing and transportation expenses. Other significant factors include the type of service required, participation in family events and guest receptions, as well as the level of etiquette, table service, and fine dining skills expected by the employer.

Requirements and Preferences for Personal Waiter

If you are planning to work as a private family waiter abroad, it is important to consider the visa requirements of the country where the employer is located. For example, to work in the United States, a candidate must have at least a valid tourist visa — it allows entry into the country for a personal meeting with the hiring family. After a successful meeting, the employer takes responsibility for arranging a work visa for the future employee.

Similar requirements apply in other countries as well: having an entry visa or visa-free access is a mandatory condition for a personal meeting with the family before official employment begins. Our specialists will help you understand the visa requirements for the country where you would like to work.

  • References from previous employers or clients, provided in writing or available for a phone check.

  • Up‑to‑date medical certificates confirming good health, compliance with hygiene standards and absence of infectious diseases.

  • Tidiness and the ability to organize the workspace: proper arrangement of dishes and utensils, timely monitoring of food supplies, and careful handling of kitchen equipment and tools.
